Functions

  1. To serve as a think tank and research and innovation hub for the state, including inter and intra sector/department consulting and advisory.
  2. To oversee the adoption, monitoring, and evaluation of the SDGs in Karnataka.
  3. To provide policy and advisory on achieving the SDGs (including food security, water security, health and nutrition security, data security, social security, cyber security, climate resilience, urban management, poverty alleviation, technology, innovation, grassroots innovation, environmental safety, etc,)
  4. To promote competitive and cooperative growth amongst District/Taluks/ Gram Panchayats (GPs).
  5. To ensure SDG Budgeting/SDG Financing for the state.
  6. To provide inputs during the budget formulation processes to meet the state’s development goals, including district budgets and planning for District Planning Division (DPD).
  7. To initiate, support, and deliver publications such as Economic Survey of Karnataka, Human Development Report, and other reports to augment the development of state.
  8. To monitor and evaluate various schemes/ initiatives/ programs etc.
  9. To provide policy guidance to the Government toward realizing the goal of making Karnataka a Trillion Dollar Economy.
  10. To provide research based integrated planning for informed policy-related decision making and other interventions.
  11. To provide and support knowledge capitalization and partnerships for enhanced citizen centric delivery system.
  12. To facilitate state, national, and international stakeholder interactions through workshops, conferences, seminars, etc. towards policy interventions, knowledge management and sharing, technology transformation, innovation and grassroots innovation, and resource mobilization, including through partnership with educational institutions, civil society, and other private institutions.
  13. To enhance labour force participation across conventional and new age economies like agriculture, manufacturing, gig economy, etc
  14. To commission studies, reports, surveys etc. in partnership with educational institutions, civil society, and other private institutions.
  15. To maintain an archive of reports, publications etc. as an internal government library.
  16. To serve as the nodal agency for Karnataka for all communication and coordination with NITI Aayog.
  17. To call for and facilitate strategic interdepartmental coordination necessary to achieve interconnected SDGs.

         

        The mandate of the Vice Chairman shall include:

 

  1. To chair Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission meetings and provide strategic advice and inputs to Hon’ble Chief Minister.
  2. To interact with departments, officers, boards, corporations, etc. and hold regular meetings to push the development agenda as per the decisions of Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission.
  3. To    facilitate    process    and  policy    relating    to    SDGs    including    Aspirational District/Taluk/ GP/Village.
  4. To participate in centralized and decentralized budget planning.
  5. To steer SDG budget and financing, with concurrence of relevant departments.
  6. To call for and guide inter and intra departmental interactions for policy evaluation and advisory.
  7. To participate in the planning and publication of the Economic Survey of Karnataka and other such reports.
  8. To represent the Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission at national and international fora, raise awareness of initiatives through various platforms, press, publications etc., and spearhead relationships with stakeholders.
